UK
is a very important country for Turkey’s tourism
revenues now that it has persistently ranked second in the list of countries whose residents visited Turkey
since 1993.
The
number of visitors from UK hit all-times record of 1.9 million in
2007.
The
rise in the number of UK-residents who visited Turkey in
2007 was 14% on a year earlier while the total number
of visitors rose by 19%.

Although
the share of UK residents in the total number of people
who visited Turkey ranked second highest and increased
from 7.5% in 2001 to 8.2% in 2006 and 8.4% in 2007,
the ratios were comparatively higher in the period between
1994 and 2000, which ranged between 9% and 11.5%.
